Hostile Take-Over Photo Series

September 2, 2004

Hostile Take-Over is a series of photos that was taken in 2004 of a fast-growing plant, Polygonum cuspidatumor more commonly known as Mexican Bamboo or Japanese Knotweed, which over the summer consumes a chain link fence. It was created in response to an invitation by Galerie B-312 for their tenth anniversary publication ARPENTER L’ÎLE : Montréal, vues singulières (ed. Marthe Carrier, Marc Desjardins). Litherland and 25 other artists were asked to make a work that represented their attachment to the city.
